Medical history

At a glance:

  • Patients come to our practice with a wide variety of medical histories and conditions. We respond to all of them individually.
  • To do this, we take a thorough medical assessment in the form of a medical history.
  • In this medical history, we go into your and your family's history of illness and symptoms.
  • A wide variety of topics are covered: e.g. psyche, environment, socialization, heart, digestion, sexuality.

Our medicine meets you where you are. No matter what your history.

We help you where you stand. Because every person is different.

What is your (illness) history? Which patients come to us?

Of course, you approach us for a specific reason. Patients come to us with a wide variety of backgrounds and life situations. Every person has ailments that plague them and things they would like to achieve (again) in terms of their health, performance. These continue to be important for the Health goal, that you subsequently formulate with Dr. Kunert. We always pick you up from where you are in terms of health.

Some examples of typical scenarios are:

  • You have already been through an odyssey of doctor visits because of your persistent headaches, but no one has been able to help you yet, you feel not understood or even taken seriously.
  • You have had grandchildren and want to continue to be mentally fit to interact with them.
  • You've noticed that you're having trouble concentrating in your day-to-day life or that your job performance has plummeted.
  • You have an unfulfilled wish to have children and have already been to a fertility center, which could not fully clarify the causes.
  • You always wake up in the morning with abdominal pain and your digestion doesn't seem to improve.
  • You've had surgery and feel like you're not really recovering from it.
  • You or a family member are having increasing problems with memory or coping with everyday life and you fear the onset of dementia.
  • Someone in your family has contracted a disease and you are wondering if you are also at risk of contracting it.
  • You are struggling with depressive moods or fear burnout.
  • You can't manage to lose weight, no matter how much you want to.
  • You have a long medical record and symptoms, but no doctor really feels responsible for keeping track of them, putting things together and looking for connections across specialties, let alone coordinating other doctors.

What is meant by medical history?

Your medical patient history: a treasure trove of current and upcoming ailments.

What is a medical history?

Medical history (anamnesis) refers to a patient's history of medical conditions and ailmentsMedical history refers to a patient's history of medical conditions and ailments. A medical history includes gathering information about past and present health conditions, symptoms, medications, surgeries, and illnesses in the family history. It is, so to speak, a thorough medical inventory.

It contains information that we can obtain from your own statements but also from findings in your own medical records and those of your relatives. For us, the detailed anamnesis is the core of the therapy in prevention and functional medicine. Only when we know what disorders and imbalances are present in you, or what problems a parent has had in his or her life, can we identify issues that we work through to find the causes of your complaints. Die Beschwerden ordnen wir in einen zeitlichen, räumlichen und kausalen Kontext ein. We also get an overview of your current therapies and findings, bundle them and coordinate other specialists. Thus, preventive medicine can support you in these therapies and protect your organs. You thus avoid secondary conditions from a conventional medical treatment and thereby unnecessary medications and side effects.

Time-Line: The look into your medical past

With our so-called "Time-Line" we take a look at your past. You visualize your current and past conditions on a timeline and superimpose them with important events in your life (e.g. completion of education, birth of a child, moving to a new city). This results in revealing connections as to when and how conditions and illnesses might have had their beginning.

This time-line extends from today to beyond your birth to your mother's pregnancy with you. The prenatal phase is also important for your health development.

family medical history

Does your father suffer from diabetes? Did your sister develop breast cancer? Did your grandmother fall into dementia at an early age?

These, but also less severe diseases, can provide information about which diseases are more likely to affect you if you do not take preventive measures. For example, if you have a family history of Alzheimer's disease, we can use our gene analyses to determine your individual risk.

At the same time, the family medical history helps us to classify your current symptoms more easily and to relate them to known clinical patterns in your family. This makes it possible to tailor therapy to your genetic makeup, which otherwise may not work as desired.

Your anamnesis questionnaire

During your 60-minute introductory consultation, you will be given an extensive and detailed questionnaire- if you wish to begin treatment. This includes many questions to tick off or fill in about your sensitivities, illnesses, medications, allergies, eating habits, your lifestyle, sexual behavior, social environment, living and working space, your quality of sleep. The questionnaire also includes your relatives, if you know this information. Examples of typical questions can be found in the box below.

You answer this questionnaire as well and as honestly as you can at home and return it to us. Dr. Kunert will discuss it with you at your next appointment.

We can offer our consultation to privately insured patients as well as to patients with statutory health insurance as self-pay patients. You can easily book appointments in our preventive medicine yourself via our online calendar here:
