First questions

Preventive medicine and functional medicine sound good. How do we get started?

This is very simple. If you find yourself in our medicine and are as convinced of our approach as we are, then make an appointment with our doctor Dr. Kunert. Clicking on the green buttons at the top of the page will take you to the appointment page, where you can schedule an initial 60-minute consultation. This will take place in our practice in Potsdam.
What happens in the run-up to the first consultation?
Before the first consultation, we will send you some documents by email, which you must sign and bring to the appointment. The documents consist of:
- Welcome letter
- Registration form with your contact and insurance information
- Fee contract, with which you also agree that we will bill you directly for our services.
- "Recall" agreement to allow us to remind you of your future appointments
- Privacy policy
- Declaration of consent for the transfer of your data to the PRIVA clearing house (for invoice processing)
- Agreement on the cancellation fee in case of cancellations within 48 hours before the appointment
What happens during the first consultation?

During the first 60-minute consultation, you describe your issues to us. Here you will already receive an initial assessment from the doctor as to where your health problems are to be found and how we can help you in the further course of treatment. After the first appointment, you will receive the comprehensive medical history form and the "Time-Line" to fill out and take home with you. These form the basis for us to get a comprehensive picture of you and to help you in the sense of preventive and functional medicine. Of course, all information remains confidential.
What is the medical history form?

The medical history form serves as an "inventory" or assessment of you and your history of illness and symptoms. It is an important basis for us to identify those correlations in you that you may not yet have been aware of. This allows us to quickly identify problem areas in your health. We objectify this in the next step with laboratory tests, etc.

What is the "Time-Line"?

With the "Time-Line" we put your current as well as past disorders in a temporal context to important events in your life. In this way, conclusions can be drawn about the changes with which certain symptoms first appeared or intensified. We can also see which symptoms appear together with others and how long they have existed. For example, a move to a new environment may have led to various food intolerances in your case, or a separation may have caused you to eat differently and you are now struggling with digestion.

General questions about our medicine

Does preventive medicine and functional medicine always take me through all the core areas? Can I also go through individual ones (e.g. hormones only)?

Any functional consideration of your body always involves different aspects. This is the nature of this medical discipline and also cannot be divided. Everything is interconnected and all systems are in contact with each other. They are mutually dependent on each other. The division into our core areas represents which areas our medicine covers. However, this does not mean that you necessarily have to go through all areas, if your medical history and your laboratory results (also current external diagnostic findings that you bring to us) show that you are well protected in one area.

On the other hand, you can of course also have your hormones On the other hand, you can of course also have your hormones examined by us without any complications, if you are looking for an endocrinologist. We will point out to you in which areas the results can still have an impact, which is why it makes sense to always look at the bigger picture. This is done through our functional medicine.

Questions about the fee

How is preventive and functional medicine billed?

We bill you directly as a patient. Our services are billed according to the GOÄ (German scale of fees for physicians). There is no two-tier medicine with us: all patients are treated equally. This means that we charge the same amount for the same service. Of course, you can also submit this invoice to your health insurance company, but we cannot guarantee that they will cover the costs. This depends entirely on your plan.
Are the costs covered by the statutory health insurance?

As a rule, the statutory health insurance funds only cover the costs of early detection of cancer. However, our medicine starts even earlier, goes into depth and includes many different factors to give you a thorough picture. Many services in preventive medicine and functional medicine are therefore so-called IGeL services (individual health services). These are not part of the usual scope of services of the statutory health insurance and must therefore be paid by you. We settle directly with you. We have no contractual relationship with the statutory health insurance companies.

Our services are billed according to GOÄ (Gebührenordnung für Ärzte, German scale of fees for physicians).
Are the costs covered by private health insurance?

From experience, private health insurance companies already partially cover some costs (depending on the plan). For example, common laboratory tests or consultations are partially covered. This is a positive development and reflects the general shift toward more prevention in medicine.

We bill our services directly with you. Of course, you can also submit the invoice to your health insurance company, but we do not guarantee which costs your health insurance company will cover in individual cases. This depends entirely on your chosen plan. It is therefore best to find out about this beforehand from your private health insurance company. In any case, you should expect that you will have to bear all or part of the treatment costs yourself. We are also unfortunately unable to conduct any correspondence with health insurance companies.

My health insurance requires a justification/indication for the coverage of a service. Do you also write this?

Of course. However, a written justification of the fee specifically for the assumption of costs by the health insurance is a separate service, which must be ordered and paid for separately, because this represents a higher effort for us. Nevertheless, we do not guarantee that your health insurance will cover the costs of your treatment even after justification. This depends entirely on your chosen plan, and most of the time these are simply not part of the plan's benefits catalog. Unfortunately, we are not able to conduct correspondence with health insurance companies.
